TELUS Brand Resource Centre
TELUS brand resource centre
As the sole Designer in this project, my role was to create a simplified user experience for the TELUS Brand Resource Centre (BRC). The BRC is a single gateway to equip users with a simple workflow to discover and access all materials and tools to enable them to successfully deliver on any TELUS branded experience. With the TELUS design language as its foundation, the BRC has become the hub for TELUS standards, guidelines and resources.
Started from the bottom, now we're here
Working closely with the team’s Information Architect & Content Manager, I created a sitemap to reflect the ever expanding IA. Our main objective was to ensure our users could access what they needed, quickly and efficiently. In order to do this, we opted for a visible side nav which would expand and collapse, revealing a sub menu which allowed users to search in-page too. However, as a side nav was not yet part of the TELUS design system, I created it as a community component so it could be used by other teams across TELUS.
Working closely with our Researcher, we conducted a series of moderated usability sessions with a variety of user groups. I translated our objectives into tasks, and the tasks into three very different prototypes. From this, we discovered which elements worked, how to better label and group content, as well as learning what the user expects. The result? A more meaningful and user friendly site!
ui design + imagery style
A clean UI was applied throughout the site, staying true to the TELUS brand. I created two types of illustrations, decorative and informative, to help break up the content, and also provide direction. Each decorative image is combined of a brand moment (the use of nature or critters) with a simplified ux style, so it’s more accessible when viewed on mobile. Informative illustrations are used to highlight the TELUS design principles.
